September Stuff

The month of September was busy, and it was over in the blink of eye.  Here's a peek at some of what we did.
Reagan went to see One Direction with Allison.  They had a great time.

Reagan's soccer team.  She has teammates named Tyler, Collin, and Katelyn, and they all spell their names the same way our children's names are spelled.  How funny is that?

Kate started taking swimming lessons at the Barrington Y.  She LOVES it this time and really looks forward to going.  Her teacher is wonderful.

Kate and I went to a zoo class where we learned about giraffes.

After the zoo class, we spent some time with the goats.  Kate enjoyed feeding, brushing, and loving them.

It was just about this time that a zoo employee told Kate she was giving out a little too much love.

Reagan saw an orthopedic doctor at Boston Children's and we learned that she has extra bones in her feet.  She is doing physical therapy to help with her ankle pain.

 Spirit of Somerset was fun!

Disney on Ice was a birthday present for Kate, and she was very happy to share that experience with Reagan.  We had a great time!

Reagan started playing the cello through the school strings program.

 Public Safety Day fun!

I love Kate's corner kick.  So cute!

Reagan is playing in a weekly field hockey league at Moses Brown in Providence.

Magna Tiles are awesome; they are played with often here.
I took this picture looking into the top of Kate's Magna Tiles tower.

Kate enjoys patterns.  We have tons of these little erasers, and she used them to make a few different patterns.

We ended September with an early start on Halloween horrors!  Almeida's haunted hayride had some of us in stitches laughing, while some did not find it funny at all.  A few tears were shed that night, but it was fun to have a big group and overall it was entertaining.

Around Here

We have quite a lot going on this summer.  I always debate whether to sign up for a bunch of things or keep it to a minimum. The best summer for us is one full of new things to try and still plenty of time for family fun.  I think of summer as the best time to try new activities, learn things that are not taught in school, and spend time with friends and family.  So, that is what we are doing!

Field hockey started for Reagan last week.  She loves this sport.  I'm glad she does because it is popular in town and she will be able to try out for the middle school team in a few years.  Field hockey is once a week for two hours.

Collin and Reagan started their weekly tennis lesson with Steve.

We went to a magic show at the library.  It was cute.  The magician has received a lot of awards and has performed at the White House nine times.  He used a few books in his show which was neat since it was a library performance.
It was hot over the weekend, so we went to the beach on Saturday and Sunday.  On Saturday, the kids had a blast with friends and a cousin.

Yesterday, Reagan went to Edaville with Auntie Cyn, Uncle George, and Riley.  They had a great time!  It was very hot, so the rest of us decided to go to the beach instead of the amusement park. Reagan said it was a lot of fun though, and she loved hanging out with Riley.

Collin started his second robotics camp this week; he did a week of robotics at the high school right after school ended.  This week, he is at Wheeler, a private school in Providence and Seekonk, three hours a day. He showed me a video about a robot named Jibo that is so very cool; I want one!

I'm off to pick Reagan up from her friend Makenna's house now because that child must have somewhere to go and someone to see every day!!!

Gymnastics and Field Hockey

On Sunday, Reagan competed in her first official gymnastics meet of the season.

Her scores were vault 8.2, beam 8.2, bars 8.3, and floor 8.4.  She earned three second place ribbons and one third place ribbon for the events, and a third place ribbon in the all around.

Reagan is also playing field hockey at Teamworks right now.  It's such a fun sport!
I took the above picture through glass in an area without much light, but that's Reagan in the white tank top.
Reagan is super excited that Karlie is playing field hockey with her this season.  Karlie is one of her friends that was moved to a different school in the redistricting, so it's great that they can spend this time together every week.

Addie and Madison are also playing field hockey with them, and I really included these two pictures because I love the photo bombs by Max, and if you look closely you will see Collin and Jack in the background also photo bombing.

Around Here

What a week!

Collin took a robotics class at The Wheeler School in Providence.  The class was Monday - Friday from 9 to 3.  He really enjoyed the class and said he learned a lot.

Kate came with me to drive Collin to and from robotics each day.  On Tuesday, she noticed the Brown University mascot in their athletics complex. She insisted that we visit him for a bit.

Reagan attended field hockey camp from 9-11 each day this week.  Since Reagan and Collin both had activities beginning at 9:00 (one in Somerset and one in Providence), we needed a little help with the logistics.  Grandma Susan was a huge help getting Reagan (and Karlie) to field hockey each day.

 Reagan and Karlie
I took a bunch of pictures of Reagan, and in most of them she had her eyes closed.

Reagan enjoyed this camp so much that she is asking for her own field hockey stick and hoping to play at Teamworks in the fall.

With Collin and Reagan busy at camps, Kate and I had some time alone.  One morning we went to the playground.  She repeatedly told me that she missed Collin and Reagan!

Karlie, Reagan, Kate and I swam in Grandpa's pool after field hockey one day.  It has been hot all week and the pool was nice!

Today, Reagan went to Howland Beach with Allison.  They saw Karlie there!

I don't have any gymnastics pictures from this week, but I have to mention that Reagan's coach and the owner of the gym both told me that Reagan is "like a totally new gymnast" since moving up to Bronze.  She has more confidence, is trying even harder, and is hitting skills she was unable to do before.  Woo hoo!  I am so proud of her hard work!  I am also THRILLED with Bronze; she has a lot more one on one attention.

Reagan also slept over Karlie's house one night and went to Miranda's house to swim one afternoon.

After robotics one day, Collin, Kate and I went to Eskimo King.

Eskimo King has great trees!

To celebrate a GREAT week of robotics, we ended the week with a trip to Friendly's!

Phew!  That was a busy week!  I am tired from all of the driving; Kate is certainly tired of the driving too, but she was SO GOOD!  Even though it was an exhausting week, I would not change a thing.  I am VERY grateful for the wonderful opportunities my children have been able to enjoy, and I know they have fun and learn so much from these camps.  They have met new friends, tried new activities, and learned new skills.  So, maybe we are all a bit tired, but we are all very happy!
