The Butterfly Life Cycle
We have Painted Lady caterpillars at home so we identified them on this chart, and then we found them in the caterpillar case. Some were still caterpillars and some were in their chrysalides.
C and R enjoyed watching the butterflies. The exhibit was much smaller than the one we saw on our trip to upstate NY, but it was still fun.

How cool! I am so jealous that you guys have a zoo! We just don't have anything like that around here!
I love butterflies.
This looks so fun. Butterflies have been Hanna's absolute favorite since she was about 3. I'm making her a butterfly cake in a couple of weeks for her bday and she started a butterfly mobile for her new bedroom today....
Anyway, thanks for reminding me via this post, our local museum has a butterfly exhibit through Sept. and we've got to make it there!
You got some GREAT pictures on this trip!!
That is so beautiful!! Your kids are so lucky, and I bet they had a blast learning all about butterflies. So much fun and so educational... I love it!
It's great that you have this hands-on field trip just in time for learning about butterflies. What a great way to actually see, learn and touch. Of course, having your own butterflies is even better. Hopefully, they will hatch as expected :)
