Sing Along with Us

Lately, we have been enjoying a few books that are written to be sung. Here are some of our favorites:

Goin' to Boston by H.Ellen Margolin

What a Wonderful World by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele

This Jazz Man by Karen Ehrhardt

Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter Yarrow

This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie, and

America the Beautiful by Katharine Lee Batesand Wendell Minor

Do you have a favorite book that is meant to be sung? I would love to know!

Oh my gosh! Your kids look absolutely adorable in these pictures. I haven't done any singing type things like this ever with my kids--what a great idea!

We recently got the book Baby Beluga from the library. Bekah loved that it went along with the song by Raffi.

I'm going to have to look for some of those titles at our library. There was an ocean counting book that was a song that my toddler co-op just loved. Of course I can't remember the name of it now.

I'll have to check out that Boston one! I like singing Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. We also have an Itsy Bitsy Spider board book. Hand, Hand, Fingers Thumb isn't quite a song I guess, but almost - it's so rythmic that I kind of sing it. We also have an advance copy of a book written to "A you're adorable," but he doesn't really like that one yet. (Tip: if you get a song type book and don't know the tune, youtube can sometimes save you!). :)

I can't think of any song ones, but chanting ones: "5 Little Monkeys," "Hickory Dickory Dock," and there was one other one that is escaping my mind.

Awesome! I liked both Down By the Bay and Baby Beluge by Raffi - especially Down By the Bay.

I love The Seals on the Bus by Lenny Hort but my newest favorite is The Library Doors by Toni Buzzeo. I am going to use it for the first week of school. R was crazy about an Elmo "If You're Happy and You Know It" book when we were at B&N.
