Still Looking for a Remedy

The morning sickness seems to have worsened over the last few days.  I went to Whole Foods this morning and bought everything I could find that claims to help soothe the queasy stomach.  Notice there are no crackers in this picture.  I now associate crackers with being sick and the sight of a cracker turns my stomach.  Just in case you were wondering, a grocery store is really no place for a pregnant woman who gags (violently, even in public) at every smell.

Yikes! When I was pregnant (both times) I kept food (crackers, ginger thins or peppermints) by my bed and had a little something every morning as my feet hit the floor. That worked for me. So sorry you are nauseated...it will be all worth it in the end!

I am there with you. I have resorted to prescription drugs though. They are totally working for me. Other than that sour candy was my vice.

I hope they work! I had to giggle at the thought of you gagging violently. My sister was like that too and sometimes it was out of nowhere.

Phasejumper's comment is the advice I got from my mother when I was pregnant (I'd completely forgotten). She would drink a small glass of milk, and eat a cracker (I totally know what you mean about associating crackers with being sick!), before she completely sat up. It worked for her - but not for me. I hope you find something! On the bright side - "they" say being good and sick is one of the signs of a healthy pregnancy :)

I was very, very nauseated till around 20 weeks with all three boys.

did seem to help me. Their gripe water for babies is liquid gold, IMO, too so keep that in mind after the baby comes.

I hope you feel better soon. It is so hard to function and feel sick.

On a side note...I was in bed all weekend with food poisoning--throwing up for almost two days. It was awful! Thought of you!

Forgot this, Vernon's gingerale helped me tremendously! I am not a fan of carbonation while pregnant, but I was SO desperate and it really did help.

Eeek! I hope this "fun" phase will end soon, and you will find something that works!

Oh, I'm so sorry you feel this bad. I remember not being able to go the grocery. Hopefully, it will subside soon. With Little J I ate sweet 16 doughnuts all the time (not something I typically ate or eat now). I don't recommend this however...too much weight gain, but I felt better!

when i had morning sickness and when I have any kind of upset stomach (un pregnancy related) I have a Bob's Sugar Stick Peppermint. Always works very quickly for me. I stock up around christmas because the stores all seem to carry them then but the only other place I can find them year round is Cracker Barrel.

Your poor thing! I went through this with my first and it was.not.fun. Praying that it doesn't last long. Hugs.

Oh my goodness...I also couldn't go grocery shopping during the early months of my pregnancy. I would even gagg down the canned foods aisle lol.

That's unfortunate that you now have a food aversion. I hope you feel better!

Oh I am so sorry I have been there... And, I to this day despise saltine crackers. I know the grocery store game, I had to have someone go with me in case I needed to mad dash to the bathroom and once had a veggie bag on hand just in case. Rootbeer tasted great for some reason and I ate ALOT of cereal, cold, quick, and almost no smell to contend with. It did end for me though, right after 12 weeks. Hopefully yours will pass quickly!

Bless your heart!! I had Hyperemesis when I was pregnant and basically sick the whole 9 months :( Everything you posted I used, along with pressure point bands on each wrist, and finally prescribed drugs. Hang in there it won't be forever.

Oh, the smells! I remember them so well! Esp. the ones on the subway. Sadly I have no advice. I even tried those motion sickness bracelets. What a rip off.

I sure hope you get feeling better soon. I agree with Phasejumper, I use to keep something on my bedside table and didn't let my feet hit the floor until I had something on my stomach.
