A Little News

I was going to wait a few more weeks before sharing this news, but I have received quite a few emails from concerned readers (so sweet, thank you!) asking where I have been and if everything is okay.  So, without further ado, I am thrilled to announce that we are expecting a new superhero or princess in early September.

I am certainly not going to stop blogging (GASP!), but morning sickness seems to have taken over my body and I have not been able to find the energy to do anything worth blogging about!  I hope to return to our normal routine soon!

So, tell me, did you suffer from morning sickness and did anything help?

I had morning sickness with both my girls. Ginger Altoids really did the trick for me!

Oh my goodness!!! Congratulations! Unfortunately, I have no advise for morning sickness. I had it sooo bad with my boys basically up until they were born. Hang in there! (I'm so happy for you!)

yay congratulations!! I hope you feel more like yourself soon!! I had to eat every few hours (2-3) to keep myself from getting hungry. If I did that I didn't get sick.

Yeah! Congratulations! So many babies on the way!

I felt like poop in the beginning too but morning sickness wasn't too bad. I sucked on peppermints all the time though and they helped!

Congratulations!!! As for all day sickness in which I was hugging the toilet for three months, the only relief was something cold on my face. It diverted the nausea somehow. Hope you feel better soon!

Congratulations!!! Unfortunately, I have no advice on morning sickness, but I hope it subsides soon and you will enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. The kids must be very exciting.

You know I'm so happy for you! Congratulations!

I just ate bread/crackers/cereal all the time. It helped to keep food in my belly. (Though I didn't vomit a lot, I always had the "stomach in the throat" feeling.)

Hugs to you!

I drank breakfast shakes for both my pregnancies. I've heard that eating a little all the time helps

Yay!! Ive been waiting for you to announce it!! Once again i am so happy for you! And i totally went through the no blogging/morn sickness routine and felt like id never want to blog again. But it made me that much more excited when i was able to start again. Sucking on hard candy all the time (especially peppermints) helped me. Unfortunately alot of it is just waiting :/

I'm so very happy for you! I had morning (all day) sickness with both my pregnancies and I'm sorry to say that not much helped...other than dreaming of them and knowing it was worth it. Get plenty of rest and take care of yourself.

I'm glad the cat is out of the bag! I can't say I ever found anything other than time, that helped with morning sickness - eventually the baby arrives, and the sickness goes away :)

Congratulations! I definitely suffered from morning sickness with both my pregnancies, but before you know it the 2nd trimester kicks in and it usually eases up a lot then if not completely.

Two bits of advice: Take your prenatal vitamin at night instead of morning and consider if you notice certain foods making you feel worse. I know anytime I drank juice before 10am with my first pregnancy, I was guaranteed going to throw up. Took me far too many unpleasant mornings before I noticed the trend.

Congratulations! That's wonderful. Yes, I had extreme morning sickness with both of my girls and when you're puking for months on end, ginger and altoids just don't cut it. I took doxylamine succinate (unisom) with dinner and then I took Zofran every morning. That took care of (most) of the puking, but didn't cure the nausea for the first three months. But for "normal" morning sickness, feeding the nausea (eating often in small amounts) helps. Hope you feel better soon!

Congratulations!!! So exciting!

As for morning sickness, I always get it. The only thing that helps me is Yogi Woman's Mother to Be tea, which IMO tastes not so great, but helps enough to be worth it!

I hope the morning sickness subsides soon.

YeaYYYYYY!!!!! congrats :) I miss being pregnant(but not enough to have another, lol) I was miserable with morning sickness for my 1st trimesters. Gingersnaps helped and so did the nature valley granola bars, the hard one in the green package. On my 3rd pregnancy I discover Sour patch kids. I know it sounds strange but they really helped settle my stomach and get rid of the horriable taste in my mouth. Hang in there and congrats again!

Congratulations! I had terrible morning sickness with both of my girls. With the first I got some advice to eat watermelon. For some reason it really helped me. Also, hard candies helped. I would also drink a pepsi every day with my first and that helped. With my second it was pretty much the same way. Hope you feel better soon!

I don't have any morning sickness advice for you either, but congratulations! That's great news.

Congratulations! I had morning sickness with both of mine, my first was mild and just getting some soda crackers on the tummy helped. My second one was more serious and nothing helped. Wish I had better suggestions for you. I do however hope it gets better soon. I've missed you!

Hurray! I also had to stop blogging when I had morning sickness. Nothing worked for me except lying on the couch. I just had to wait it out.

congrats!!! hopefully the morning sickness will pass quickly. i don't remember doing anything special for mine....just enduring it. but i have heard that there are some suckers that help some people and that ginger is supposed to help. you just never know!

Hooray! What great news. Congrats. I hear that crackers help and digging your fingers into an orange b/c the smell helps with nausea. Feel better

Huge congratulations!!! I had morning sickness with both of mine, but it was much better the second time around. I found that ginger made it worse. I'm already a hot person and the ginger warmed me up too much. Peach leaf worked wonders, though. I've compiled a list of other things that have worked for mamas if you would like it (my background is as a nurse/herbalist specializing in women and children). Congratulations! That is such a joy. I had morning sickness with all four of my kids - and sometimes day sickness and night sickness. Mine knew no bounds. And it began about 4 weeks (they say it starts about 6) and lasted until delivery (they say it ends at 13 weeks). Multiple times a day... After my third child was born I ended up with a stomach bug - my daughter got excited thinking I was pregnant again! Nothing helped mine but delivery.
But it reminded me that I was pregnant and it was a heathy pregnancy! My mother had troubles and many miscarriages. Everything I read said that morning sickness, cause and cure unknown, is a sign of a healthy pregnancy - and actually ending up in the bathroom because of it generally means a very healthy pregnancy. :-) So I took that as my sign from God not to worry - all was well in there!
Hope you feel better soon though. It makes homeschooling (or living) hard!

I am so happy for you all! Prescription Zofran works. My sister also said original Unisom is good. Let me find out which one it is...

CONGRATULATIONS! Let me just say, I HATED being pregnant, but I always loved (and STILL love) the final result...

I will pray that saltines and suckers ease your illness and that the 2nd trimester brings more energy and less nausea!

That isn't little news - that's big news! Congratulations!!

I asked my sister and she said:
Doxylamine it is also the active ingredient in ny quil.

Congratulations! How exciting!

I found that I had to keep crackers with me all the time, so I could eat one - very slowly - any time I started to feel nauseous.

Natalie said...

I was very nausous, not sick, ginger tea, as well as ice water with lemon were helpful!

My allergy doctor's office only has parenting magazines and kids magazines so yesterday while I was getting my shots I read an article about morning sickness in Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine. It said that you should keep your stomach full as much as possible with things like bread, dry cereal, and crackers. Also sip water all day long or suck on ice chips. Make sure you eat some crackers or something before you go to bed, and keep crackers and water on your bedside table. As soon as you wake up, before getting out of bed, eat some crackers and drink some water. I get nauseous with my migraines and the only thing that makes me feel better is to eat constantly so I guess it's similar in a way.

I am so happy for you! I was exhausted the first two months.

Congratulations! So sorry to hear about your morning sickness. I definitely had it with my first and it wasn't fun. Hope it passes quickly and you have a wonderful pregnancy.

Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you.

I had a lot of nausea with my kids, not much vomiting but I felt like I was gagging all of the time and it seemed like it got especially bad if I didn't eat when I was hungry. So I would suggest just keeping small snacks like crackers with you.

Of course, you have more children then me...so are probably the one to give me advice!

Congrats again!

Oh, I am so relieved to see this because I was just going to email you to see if everything was okay. Congratulations (again)!!!

Mark kept Cheerios in the nightstand for me to munch on before I even got out of bed in the morning and that seemed to help w/morning sickness.

Congratulations!! How exciting!

Sorry about the morning sickness.

I did not have it really bad, but I got these Ginger chews at Whole Foods and they helped. They have a ginger hard candy but for some reason that one made it worse for me?!?!? Odd!

Congrats again!! Kerri

You know I am SO happy and excited for you! Hoping the morning sickness passes quickly and you can enjoy the middle stint of your pregnancy before that long road to the end kicks in:-)!! Pray it's nothing but healthy the whole way through.

Finally catching up myself after a bout with illnesses. What exciting news! I had morning sickness with both my kids but managed it by snacking throughout the day on crackers and granola bars.

Congratulations! I always think it looks like your family has so much fun - so the baby is very lucky to join such a fun family! I am due with my second in April, and have noticed that I lot of the bloggers I follow online are due this year as well. I wish we could form a virtual playdate or something. Anyway, Congratulations!
