Toy of the Week

Our toy of the week was Lincoln Logs. The toy of the week is typically a toy that is usually ignored, and it stays out in plain view for an entire week. It is a deliberate attempt to interest them in a toy and to observe how they play with the toy.
C and R had a lot of fun with them the first day. Unfortunately, they were ignored the rest of the week unless I prompted the play. Even then, they quickly left the Lincoln Logs for something else. Oh well, I think the Lincoln Logs may be passed along to another child.

Why do I mourn the loss of toys that I think are great?

I had a nice visit to your friend the Dairy Queen yesterday! She's as sweet as you!

I also mourn over toys. Meghan seems to ignore those handmade toys...each and every thing I've made for her...felt apple, strawberries...button book and felt board are looked at once in a while...but for less than a minute! She does like the Veggie Tales tot book I made. I guess unless it's a book it's hard to compete with noisy, plastic toys.

Have a great day!

That's too bad, they're such great toys! I love Tinker Toys too - hoping my gal will like them when she's a bit older!

Love your new blog design, by the way!

I love your new design!

My kids don't really play much with the lincoln logs eiter, about once a week.

Just my opinion, but I think 4 and 3 are just a bit young to toss the Lincoln logs just yet.

BTW, you new blog look is very nice!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Funny that you should write about this. We just bought my son a HUGE Lincoln Logs set for his birthday. He loves to build things so I'm hoping he will enjoy it. We also have Tinker Toys, which he loves.....so here is hoping the Classic Toys survive! One key that I read recently is integrating classic toys with new toys.....so maybe put Lincoln Logs with some toy cars....they can build garages or tunnels or something. It helps them relate more, maybe?

Sherry,
You are right. I'm just going to put them away for a while and try again in the future. Thanks.

I do something similar I keep toy out and I rotate them as well. I find that he ALWAYS wants the ones I keep out grrrr thinkng maybe I should just lock up all his toys then he'll LOVE them. :)
Your lincoln logs are cool. Ours don't have the roofs and stuff.
