School's Out for Summer

On the day before the last day of school (yesterday), I thought we should have a fun treat.

 Reagan was at Karlie's house, and she doesn't really like s'mores anyway.  Her treat was hanging out with her friend!

 I discovered that Kate doesn't like s'mores either.  She likes all of the pieces, just not combined and ooey gooey melty (CRAZY, right?!!).

I made cinnamon rolls for our last morning with Ellie.  I was so happy that Ellie likes cinnamon rolls!  I wanted something special to thank her for spending time with us before school each day, and she did indeed enjoy the special treat!

While they ate, they made tape/crayon creations.

OF COURSE, I had to take a few last day of school pictures.

 Of course Reagan had to be silly.

 Poor Ellie is trying to get Reagan to cooperate so that we can get the picture thing over with!!!

Finally, one normal picture.  As much as I like this picture, the silly pictures are the TRUE Reagan.

Reagan's class had a pirate party to celebrate the last day, and I jumped on board with the theme.

 While they enjoyed their last day of school, Kate and I got ready to greet them.

Last Day of School

Last Day of First Grade

Another year has gone by too fast, but I am so proud of these two kiddos and all of their hard work in school.  They both did very well, and their teachers have only had wonderful things to say about them.

Last Day of Third Grade

I made special end of year treats for both classes.  Reagan's teacher planned a beach day for her class last Friday, so I made blue jello with Swedish fish.  When I brought them in to the class, Mrs. Machado told me that Reagan mentioned that I don't allow foods with artificial food dye so this must be a special treat!  Also, Reagan made sure to tell me that the fish got "gross and slimy" in the Jello and we shouldn't do this again!

Collin's class spent a lot of time learning about the state of Massachusetts this year, so I brought in Massachusetts foods on Monday - cranberry juice (cranberry is the state fruit) and homemade Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies (In 1997 the chocolate chip cookie was recognized as the official cookie of Massachusetts. A third grade class from Somerset proposed the bill honoring the cookie (invented in 1930 at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts)).  The class also enjoyed mini corn muffins (the state muffin).


Last year I bought silly string and sprayed the kids when they got off the bus, BUT some of that silly string is still stuck on our driveway so I don't recommend it and I won't be doing that again.  I kept it simple this year with a driveway chalk sign welcoming them to summer vacation.

Collin and Reagan were not too impressed with my chalk sign, and they were a bit disappointed that I didn't have water balloons this year (I forgot about that until I was working on the chalk sign).  Oh well, I tried!  I'll have to remember the water balloons next year!

I'm happy to have them home for the summer, and we are currently working on drafting our Summer Bucket List!

School's Out for Summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hooray!!!  Let the fun begin!  I am so excited to have the kiddos home for the summer.

The last three days have been half days and each day at the elementary school had a theme.

Monday was Character Day.  R wore part of her jazz costume to be Little Red Riding Hood.

My cell phone takes terrible pictures.

Tuesday was Tropical Day.

Wednesday (today), the last day of school, was Principal Pride Day.  Our principal is retiring and her favorite color is purple, so the students wore purple in honor of her last day as their principal.

R's last day of Kindergarten

C had no interest in dressing up for any of these days.  Here he is on his last day of second grade:

Today was also T's last day of school.  Freshman year is over.  He was thrilled to have his picture taken at 6:30 this morning.

While the kids were in school, I made Cool Whip Cones (frozen pudding and cool whip in a cone).  T and C loved them, but R did not (no surprise there - I should have just made her an ice cream cone).

I also made a sign to welcome the kids to summer vacation.

When they got off the bus, I sprayed them with silly string!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, I filled fifty water balloons for them to play with.

They liked popping them over their own heads!

I hope we have a wonderful summer!  

School's Out for Summer!

I am proud to introduce............

the second grader in the house!  C had a wonderful year in first grade, and we gave him a new scooter for working so hard all year.

I am also proud to introduce the high school freshman in the house.  Yikes!

We gave T this world pin because he is traveling with People to People this summer and they all wear lanyards and collect pins from the countries they visit.

Today was the last day of school for the boys, but I have to include R, so here is the Kindergartener:

To celebrate the last day of school, we completed a task from our Summer Bucket List - we made homemade lemonade!

To make it extra special, I wet the rims of the glasses (with lemonade) and pressed them into colored sugar (pink for R, green for C).  I also added umbrellas because those little umbrellas just make beverages so special!

C's front tooth is SO wiggly!

R loves the way the sugar looks, but she would never put her mouth on such sweetness.  She chose a straw!!!

Welcome to summer!  Forget about the fact that it is only 65 degrees right now.
