Thirty-three Weeks

K's eyes are so pretty.  They are deep blue like R's and she has long eyelashes.

Meal time is so messy.  She insists on doing it herself and that means there is always food everywhere. It is a two spoon job, one spoon for her and one for me and we trade spoons over and over.

Her little wave is so cute and I still haven't been able to get a picture or video of it.  She says, "Hi, Dada," and that is always directed right at Dad so even if she is not even eight months old, I am convinced that she is talking.

K is officially wearing 12-18 months now.  She wears this size for the length; her waist is tiny and the clothes are baggy.

I love to look at pictures of the other three kids around the same age, so here they are:

T - December 1997

C - March 2005

R - October 2006

K - today, April 30, 2012

Look at that wispy hair and that sweet smile.  She melts my heart.

I love this age.

Thirty-two Weeks

I missed last week because our house was still full of sickness.  I hope that we can all stay healthy now!

K refused solids the entire week she was sick, but she is eating again.  Her favorite foods are sweet potatoes, apples, pears, and carrots.

She is sitting on her own really well now.

K has also started waving and saying "bye"; it is so cute.  I can't seem to capture it on camera though.

K really wants to crawl!  She is reaching for things and trying to move around more.

She pulls everything out of my hands and loves to rip up napkins or paper.  She also loves to stand (with help of course).

Sweet Little Bird

Last week, C and R found this little bird in our yard.  It appeared to be injured and unable to fly.  C and R talked to the bird (for over an hour) and put food near it.  We had to leave the house for piano lessons and when we returned, the bird was gone.  I assume the bird became the prey of another animal, but at least it received a little love that day.

K - Thirty Weeks and Easter

Sadly, K caught the nasty virus that invaded our house.  She has been sick since Saturday with a fever and congestion.  Last night, she was so miserable that she would sleep for fifteen minutes and then scream for an hour - it was a long night and I am exhausted.  I brought her in to see the pediatrician today and fortunately there was nothing visibly wrong, so it is just a nasty virus.  I hope that she has a better night tonight.

On a good note, K got her second bottom front tooth last week!

We were supposed to host Easter brunch, but because of all the illness we have had, we cancelled.  I ended up getting sick too, so it was the right decision.  I felt bad that we had to cancel, but I can't imagine anyone wanted to come to our house!

Here are a few pictures from our weekend:

She loves tags!
R got her first sewing kit.  She is working on an elephant.

C got a cool pyramid to excavate.  He loves things like this.

T slept late and I didn't get any pictures of him with his basket.  By the time he woke up, I was feeling pretty crummy.

Our Easter was very low key, but at least we were all together and only battling a virus.

Easter Eggs

C and R decorated Easter eggs today.  I was happy they both felt well enough to do it; they have a mild case of the flu.

They began by painting eggs with Doc Hinkle's Paint-On Easter Egg Coloring Kit.  We have used this kit the last three years and I love it.  The paint dries fast and the colors are so vibrant.

Then, I gave them hot eggs and they used crayons to color them.  The crayon melts and looks really cool.

R is wearing a onesie from PBK; it was hers when she was younger than K, and her name is on the front.  She was excited about squeezing into it.  Obviously, she could not snap the bottom.  It's hard to tell from this picture, but she looked ridiculous!

They decorated two dozen eggs.

Do you see the rabbit egg in the upper right corner?  C drew that.  I think it looks great, but he was unhappy with it and refused to finish it.  He also refused to decorate anymore eggs.  Oh well, he decorated about eight before that happened, and R was happy to color the rest of the eggs!

Twenty-nine Weeks

This is what K does while I shower.

K is babbling up a storm now; it is just so cute, she loves to talk.  She says "ba ba ba" a lot and C has decided that she is trying to say brother.

She pulls everything out of my hands now, and she protests quite loudly if I take something away from her.

I am very grateful that she has remained healthy through all of the illness in our house lately.  C's ear infection did not return, but he has a virus and had a 104.5 fever on Sunday night.  I hope that K continues to stay healthy.
