Summer Reading

C and R participated in the Barnes and Noble summer reading program this year.  They each filled out a form listing eight of the books they read this summer, and when they turned the forms in at our local Barnes and Noble, they each received a free book.  The store had a decent selection of books to choose from, and C and R both found books that looked good to them.  R chose Scat, Cat! by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and C chose Flat Stanley, Stanley Flat Again by Jeff Brown.  This was our first experience with the program, and we definitely hope to do it again next summer.

We enjoyed it as well! L was excited to turn in his list and get a book! They were out of Scat Cat, which is the one he wanted, so he actually picked out a higher level chapter book for later on...Humphrey something ;) We will definitely have to do it again next year!

It's horrible but I forgot to participate in any summer reading programs this year.

D would approve C's choice. He loves that series. Don't you love reading porgrams that offer books as rewards - that is always the best!

We did that program last year and I think C got the Flat Stanley book. It's a great program since the kids get free books! I didn't do it this year. I had planned on doing some sort of reading program but we never got around to it. On a good note, the kids did read a lot over the summer so I guess that's all that matters. :-)

Sadly, we have no Barnes and Noble in our area...the only one we had closed down.

That's great. We did the library reading program and Abby enjoyed it. The only problem was, she was kind of in between with the book selections.

We just had our own little summer reading program...but we failed miserably...life has not been normal around here...I am ready to just be home...and have a home...not in boxes! =)
