Finding Hawaii on the Globe

I love this inflatable globe.  It is from Learning Resources and comes with an activity guide.  In this photo, C is pointing to the Hawaiian islands.  I wanted to buy a regular globe, but they are SO EXPENSIVE!  This inflatable version does the job and it was $9.99 from Amazon.com.  Plus, we can play catch with the world.

i bought a hug a globe for my daughter and she loves it! it was about $30, but totally worth it! she loves to look at it and talk about the places she's been, sleep with it and sit on it!

I know we have an inflatable globe somewhere - we got it at the garage sale. I wish I knew where :( Anna has a lot of fun with her $1 mini globe, but it's hard to see where things are.

That's very cool!

My oldest is 'into Hawaii'. She's only 5. I don't even know where she first heard about Hawaii, but she recognizes Hawaiian outfits, dancers, landscapes, etc, wherever she sees them.

If only I could convince my husband that, as unschoolers, it's our duty to take her there.

How funny, we were JUST using our hugg-a-planet globe to find places. My son had me read the bottom of a toy ("made in china"), then ran to get my globe, and pointed right to China! I was shocked and asked how he found it, and he said, "near big purple place!" (that would be the Russian federation). He is always asking to "name places on mommy's globe." But ours is in pretty sorry shape. I think I need to toss it in the wash and see if it survives. If not, I'll have to get the inflatable one you link to! :)

I've never seen an inflatable globe before this, but I do really like Learning Resources.

We have an inflatable globe and also map placemats that we love. I find that my daughter really takes time to look at the maps more when she is sitting at the table for a meal.

What a great idea as an alternative to spending the big bucks.

They must love playing catch with the world! And when it's deflated, it doesn't take up any room. Brilliant!

i think the inflatable globe is great also(although I dont have one) because you can store it so easily, just let out the air.
