This week we enjoyed reading
Lines That Wiggle by Candace Whitman. This is a very colorful book that explores many different lines in fun, simple ways. There are lines that sway, swirl, zigzag, and more. C and R really loved that all of the lines were glittery and raised. They insisted upon tracing each line with their fingers before turning the page. It took a long time to read the book this way, but that is okay. I was happy they were enjoying the book.
Our art project for this book began with them making lines with glue and then sticking yarn to the glue lines.
When the glue dried, they painted over and around the yarn.

Very cute book and an even better art idea! I'm heading to the library's website to see if they have both books you mentioned!
What a great project to go along with that book. I will have to check it out at the library. We did the yarn drawings with our art group and they were a lot of fun. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Art with Anything, I have it on reserve at the library!!!

I remember doing that as a writing assignment in college. Someone else would make the starting line, and then we drew a picture from it. Then we wrote a story.
See what you missed out on not majoring in elementary studies? Very very difficult work like that :).
I am glad that you enjoyed this book, and it's a perfect art project for it. Those drawings look so colorful - I especially liked C work!

We've used a number of Mary Ann Kohl's books - she has a lot of good ideas.
Neat book and fun projects for sure! We like to do creative line drawings. Draw three doodles on a page and see what your kids can create with the doodles. It's fun to give the kids the same doodles and see the variety of pictures that they can draw from the lines. I did this with students of all ages and they enjoyed it.
Their artwork turned out really nice. I love the colors. Again, this is another book we've never read. It sounds great and we'll have to look for it. Can you believe school starts soon! It seems like summer just got going.
Scribbles and lines always make great art projects. I like how you added dimension by using yarn.
